From September 7: Week 1 – Ready or Not

We are back and ready to roll into 2026 with winners, and, most importantly, the reasons why. The NFL is still in transition mode when it comes to quarterbacks. At this time, 27 of the 32 teams have a quarterback who can ideally lead their team to the playoffs and beyond. The other five teams need help. Even though the regular season hasn’t kicked off yet, we can confidently say the following five teams are going nowhere in 2026.

The Miami Dolphins – QB Malik Willis
The Arizona Cardinals – QB Jacoby Brissett
The Cleveland Browns – QB Deshaun Watson
The incredible NY JETS – QB Geno Smith
The Atlanta Falcons – QB Tua Tagovailoa

These teams do not have a reliable QB, or the talent roster, either to make the playoffs or win many games. In Week 1, we’re going with the Las Vegas Raiders at home over the Dolphins.
Miami is playing for the #1 pick in next year’s draft. They dumped Tua Tagovailoa to Atlanta and traded Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb, Jaylen Waddle, Minkah Fitzpatrick for draft picks. The Dolphins claim they’re not dumping any games or the season to get the #1 draft pick. Yet, something smells in Miami, and it’s not fresh fish.

The Dolphins will have Malik Willis out there throwing balls to Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, rookie Caleb Douglas, running back De’Von Achane. They are young men who lack the experience and talent to match up against Kirk Cousins and the Raiders. In fact, looking closely at their schedule, the Dolphins are a great bet of under 4 ½ total wins for the season.

The Raiders will have QB Kirk Cousins, Conner Heywood at fullback, and Brock Bowers at tight end. The Dolphins cannot stop them on offense, not to mention Miami will have to contend with the Raiders’ defense led by Maxx Crosby.

The line is 3 ½; buy 1 point to be under a field goal.
