From October 22: Week 7 – QB Update: Look Before You Bet

If you are going to put money on your favorite team or are looking for NFL action, the first thing you want to do is check out your QB. Is he healthy? Can he manage the game? Is he any good?

These are some of the questions you should be thinking about before you make that first bet. We are at a point in the season where we can identify the strength of a team and their QB. This season, there is a shortage of good young QBs. Putting aside those guys, let’s take a look at some of the remaining QBs.

The big news out of Philly is Jalen Hurts being out at QB for the Eagles. Unfortunately, he is dealing with blood clot issues. We have no idea when he’s coming back.

Next door in NY, Jameis Winston has been playing like Jamison Winston. From week to week, he is showing himself to be the true meaning of a mystery QB. He was benched this past Sunday for poor play. His inconsistent performance is difficult on the eyes, especially if you’re a Giants fan.

Down in Miami, Malik Willis is on the 0 – 5 Dolphins. Thanks to the front office, he has no one to play with. He is a real QB who should not be starting with this offense.

Arizona’s QB Jacoby Brissett is average at best. He is not the definition of a franchise QB.

The Titans are stuck with Cam Ward, and will be looking for a new QB in next year’s draft.

The Colts have Danny Jones at QB and, based on this season’s performance, his future is looking bleak.

Holy Bananas: the J-E-T-S have Geno Smith! They, too, need and want a new starting QB to lead their team.

Denver has Bo Nix, who knows how to play. His problem is he can’t throw down field.

These eight QBs represent 25% of all the NFL teams. It’s hard enough to pick a winner, but after you have your team, look at your QB. His actions will go a long way in determining if you cash your bet or not. Don’t rush to get your wager in: always look to see who’s healthy and who’s not.
