From November 8: Week 10 – Wake Up and Smell the Money

We love the early game between Indy and Atlanta. Even though the game is in Berlin, it’s all about the designated home team, the Colts. They made the trade with the Jets for Sauce Gardner and are now a very good team. The Colts have gotten their season record to be 7 – 2. The losses included a road game when they found a way to accomplish 5 turnovers, a game in which they only lost by 7. Unlike Indy, Atlanta’s season record so far is 3 – 5. It’s worth noting the Falcons are 1 – 3 on the road and have lost their last 3 games.

At 7 – 2, the Colts are on top of the AFC with Denver (8 – 2) and New England (7 – 2). If they can stay healthy and play at the level of their talent, they will go far in the playoffs. The betting line is Indy – 6 ½. Because the game is in Germany, we are going to buy 1 ½ points to be at – 5 on the game.

Depending on where and with whom you bet, the money line is between – 275 and – 300. Many people feel laying $300 to win $100 is a bad bet. However, it’s all about perspective. I see it the same way as investing $300 in the stock market and then selling it 3 hours later to make a 33% profit on your money. If you and I are in the same boat, we are here to stay focused, make good choices, and, ultimately, make money by betting on good teams and against bad teams. Whether you’re laying $300 to win $100 or laying $30 to win $10, the wager still makes you a winner.

Before signing off, it’s worth mentioning a second game: the Rams over the 49ers. These two teams usually play close games. Tomorrow, the 49ers are missing several players who are out or playing hurt. They simply don’t have the players to put pressure on Mathew Stafford. The betting line is Rams – 4 ½ and the money line is – 215. Vegas has made the Rams a 2 to 1 favorite on the road. We’re going with the boys out West, laying – 215, and buying the game down to – 3.
