From February 6: Super Bowl LX

The big game is finally here! With all the coverage by mainstream media and the usual suspects, you’d be hard pressed to say how this has been anything but a great week for the NFL. By the same token, watching every show talk about the NFL gets to be tedious. All the talking heads are spouting their many opinions on who they think will come out on top this Sunday without necessarily looking deep into how and why they’ve come to those opinions. Across the board, this week’s word is the Seahawks are getting the money and the Patriots had an easy schedule this past season. Let’s pump the brakes a bit. Looking below at the schedules for Seattle and New England, you can see that both of them played, at one time or another, against the same seven teams.

Seattle

Week 2: beat Pittsburgh 31 – 17.

Week 3: destroyed New Orleans 44 – 13.

Week 5: lost against Tampa Bay 38 – 35. This was a near perfect game, with Baker going 29 – 33 for 379 yards and 2 TDs. Sam was 28 – 34 with 1 int from a tip off a helmet, in addition to a lost fumble and missed FG. It was a great game to watch, but a tough loss for Seattle.

Week 7: they beat Houston 27 – 19.

Week 12: won against Tennessee 30 – 24.

Week 14: Seattle were on fire, beating up Atlanta 37 – 9.

Week 17: against Carolina, they won 27 – 10.

*You’ll notice that in the games where Seattle won against the better teams, the final scores, in most instances, were 1 TD games.*

New England

Week 3: lost to Pittsburgh 21 – 14 at home. Drake Maye went 28 – 37 with 1 int, 5 sacks and managed to fumble the ball away 4 times.

Week 4: won against Carolina 42 – 13.

Week 6: won against New Orleans 25 – 19.

Week 7: beat Tennessee 31 – 13.

Week 9: won against Atlanta 24 – 23.

Week 10 won against Tampa Bay 28 – 23.

Division Championships beat up Houston 28 – 16.

In total, the Patriots and Seahawks were both 6 – 1 against these teams.

The Patriots lost in Weeks 1 and 3, while the Seahawks lost two of their games in Week 1 and 5. Both teams went on to win their last 11 of 12 games in the regular season. While Seattle played better teams, and might have the best team on the field, New England has the better coaches.

Regarding the picks being given out by everyone in the media, one name you won’t find among the bunch is Tom Brady. He refuses to make a pick because of his ties to New England. He’s quietly rooting for New England but knows Seattle has a better team. You can’t be in the Patriots Hall of Fame and say that.

On January 6th, we posted on our Pro Football Winners Weekly page here on Facebook that New England was a great bet at +1000. Seattle is favored by 4 ½. Throughout the season, Seattle has looked like the best team in the NFL. They are faster and hit harder. We like Seattle to win in a close one.

We believe the game will be a close one and you might want to consider buying Seattle down to – 2 and lay -200 to win 100.

If you go the other way, and buy points for New England, you can be at +8 1/2 and lay the same – 200 to win 100.
